A Celebration of Words

Welcome back to segundosyterceros.blogspot!  This site was set up a few years back as a place for us to chronicle and share the writings that we do during our PYP unit of study on poetry.  We had an awesome start to our unit!  Today we kicked things off by reading some poems by Mary Oliver and discussing how she uses strong, vivid images to paint word pictures.  We then compiled lists of interesting, unusual, playful or powerful words.  Our favorite words were converted to, "word tickets" and then placed in the magic, literatti bag.  And the game follows:

Literatti

Children,
eager,
words dart and flitter
like fireflies,

silver
 colossal
fluffy

tickets carefully placed in
a magic bag.
One word is drawn and we
write like crazy,
associate,
dream,
listen,
remember,
hear,
feel,
see,
our word come to life
in so many
different
ways.
